WOW--so great! It looks like it's really fun to play with. Maybe a line of TAD toys is in the offing?
I have no idea if this could be mass produced - there were some very tricky parts, but then I don't know how to sew.
I like how it retains the style of your illustrations... I love the book by the way. It really made me want to be a dad, but more importantly it introduced me to your blog. Thanks!

oh yeah patterns. well I just kind of winged it so they aren't any patterns - I would have to cut it apart. but honestly if I had known what I was doing I think the only hard part would be getting the sticky vinyl through the sewing machine smoothly

This is too cool. The choice of vinyl works perfectly with the design of the rocket.
Sewing vinyl is a massive pain. I made my nephew a guitar for his 3rd birthday and it took forever to do. So long in fact that I kind of wanted to keep it once I was done.
I only just found this blog and it brought back fond memories of my childhood. My dad used to draw on lunch bags for me and my sisters, using the first letters of our names as a starting point. It always made us the envy of the lunch table. I never realized how cool it was at the time, but looking back it meant a lot.
hey L - cool guitar - that looks incredibly difficult! My best vinyl tip is to put blue painters tape on the bottom of the presser foot and the base of the sewing machine. it really helped it glide. still a pain though. by the way did you see the lunch bag post too?
